Oh dear, if you're diabetic then I would seriously advise against watching this film. It' so sugery it'll may the brain right out of your head.

Why on earth Eastman and Laird(original Comic creators) allowed this to be made is beyond me. The film is far removed from their black and white comic book. Its true that the cartoon series was as well but the first movie did have a hard edge to it. Even at a glance at the cover of the movie and you will see that the turtles are smiling and happy. Not saying this is a bad thing and after looking at a cover of one of the original comic books you'll notice that they are almost always gritting their teeth and frowning. People have tolorated the childish humor through the second one, but this has gone too far.

Even the animatronics look fake as well. In the first 2 of this series a rather believable Splinter existed but now he's juddering, stiff, and moves his head like a robot. It was obviously operated by a couple of technicians loitering a few feet off camera. His voice is also totally different and he seems a touch more upbeat and lively. Its a total change of character.

The plot itself defies logic and there are massive holes all over the place. With such a dramatic change in locale from New York to Fuedal Japan you'd think the movie would take advantage of that and go nuts with imagination. But sadly not. It just...goes nowhere. One of the most unbelievable characters is Whit. This characterke is the same person played by Casey Jones and even in the movie April O'Neal takes a second look at him and says "Casey?", and he just looks down in confusion. If a rare change that he was a great 5X grandfathe of Casey then it did not even bother to get into detail on say "why was he in Japan?" It is a pretty wretched movie but Elias Koteas(Casey) can make it a tiny bit less unbearable because his role is mature.

The problem is that there are just not enough such moments to justify this film for all but the most hardcore fans of the turtles. And since the most serious fans would all be at least twenty years old by now, well, let us just say this film has its work cut out for it pleasing even that audience. This movie was a paste on job.
